Buried in beer at Montreal bar Le Saint-Bock
Named after a strong lager of German origin, Le Saint-Bock Brasserie has a strong impact on the beer lovers who visit. There’s nothing like ordering a “house” beer that is not only actually made on site but amazing, with tanks at this “brasserie artisinale” or brew pub visible within the bar…And the skillful craft quickly noticeable upon taste. After taste. After taste.
Including some of their own beery brainchildren, they boast a belch-worthy total of 750 types of beer, giving yeasty rise to their claim of the largest beer selection in Canada. They have everything from local to rare and imported, with prices ranging from reasonable to steep. [Looking for more bars in Montreal nightlife packing big selection? Check out Vices & Versa.]
With an interior a bit nicer looking than some of the other craft beer champions in this series, your Montreal bachelor party group will feel like you’ve died and gone to beer heaven when you sit in those comfy black vinyl chairs toasting the groom, with plenty to seating to accommodate your large group (so as long as you go early or make reservations!).
There’s often sports playing on the screens and they have free wifi, too. St.Bock has a great vibe for a relaxed daytime drink or to kick off the night with a soft segue into some of the more wild nightlife you may be encountering later on.
Oh yah, and attractive women come to this bar too, so high quality delights for all the senses. Cheers.
They also have a good patio and a decent bar menu.
Tip: drink specials between 4 and 6.
With it’s vibrant nightlife, you probably already got the hint that Montreal likes drinking beer, so it should be no surprise that Quebec is really good at making it…
As well as fellow divine drinkery Dieu du Ciel, St. Bock is know by many as one of the best brew pubs in Montreal…
So, say bring it on the ales and say goodbye to what ales you at this or one of the many Montreal bars suited to quench the thirst of even the lustiest lager-lovers. Call us for recommendations and reservations for your group.

Vices & Versa terrasse
What they lack in quantity they make up for in…Wait, that won’t work. OK, what they lack in quality they make up for in…OK, there’s no real way to finish that sentence about Vices & Versa, a Montreal bar specializing exclusively in beer from La Belle Province with 35 high quality local beers on tap.
This impressive macrocosm of microbreweries can make choosing a bit overwhelming, but with top-notch selections and food pairings, it’s pretty hard to go wrong. They also offer a decent selection of cider and liquors.
A little ways out from the downtown core in Little Italy will take you a long ways around touring the crème de la crème (‘beer foam de la beer foam’?) of Montreal’s famous microbrewies, with local beers such as another hot spot to try a cold one in Montreal nightlife—Dieu du Ciel.
Come early and get a seat on their popular terrasse (with shade for scorcher days as well as heating for cooler nights) to see the stars over some pints with friends…If you start seeing stars while still inside the bar, do not hesitate to have a tasty meal here—the poutine is a much-praised item on the list, and what better time to have it than over a perfectly paired local brew?
Tip: Beers are $4.50 before 7!
Attention guys: Though you are advised to make reservations or come early (note the terrasse does not take reservations), this laid-back bar is Montreal bachelor-party friendly with good looking waitresses and a mixed but fun crowd. It also gets laziness points as it’s a great way to experience many of the finer local brews all in one place (plus, dress is casual).
Brew over some other laid-back Montreal bars for serious drinkers.

The name pretty much sums up the status of “Dieu du Ciel” as far as quality beer in Montreal is concerned. Luckily, while its reputation may be close to godliness, the vibe at this brew pub is down to earth—and, hallelujah, so are the prices, with pints going between $5-8!…Be forewarned that what can get high here are the beer percentages (ranging fro 5-10%) and the volume (consistently loud) .
Whether in bottled form from stores or on tap at this brew pub, Dieu du Ciel is a world-famous beer-lovers favorite. With large windows beside the bar revealing the tanks where the magic happens, they offer a rotating menu of passionately rendered craft beers made on site…So check out what’s on tap on their website or seriously, just go in and expect to hit the spot, whatever that might be—Or to hit a spot you didn’t even know about.
Get there early if you want a seat, whenever you are going.
Also down to earth in their eco-friendly use of fair trade/local ingredients, reach metaphysically new heights of beer appreciation at this Montreal bar with popular creations such as:
Aphrodisiaque (Aphrodite)
Dark stout ale flavored with bourbon, cocoa, vanilla and roasted malt.
This beer was prohibited from being sold to the US in 2003 under its name, and so was marketed there as Aphrodite.
Peche Mortel
A black imperial coffee stout with a powerful, roasted taste.
Historically, this bitter, high-alcohol style of stout was brewed to endure the exportation from England to Russia.
In addition to their brew pub, The DDC microbrewery in St. Jerome is one of many ways to drink in Quebec’s quality craft beer culture.
Call us to class up your love of beer with a tour of one or more of the renowned microbreweries in Montreal and surrounding areas as part of your bachelor party or other trip to the city.
